WINTER CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS

For a complete schedule, visit the Children's Programs page.

For the first time, we are offering the Let's Read Math program developed by Dr. Claire Passantino. Designed for the 4 year old through 1st grade student, Let's Read Math combines children's literature and hands-on math. Children enjoy stories which are then extended with math activities involving fun manipulatives.
Session 1: January 23rd- P. Bear's New Year's Party highlights counting and time.
Session 2: January 30th- The Mitten and Missing Mittens focuses on size comparisons, pairs, and even & odd numbers.
Session 3: February 6th, Grandpa's Quilt teaches spatial relationships and making arrays.
Class size is limited, so register soon (on Facebook or at the Library)!
NOTE: Registrants (ages 4 through 1st grade) must be able to attend all three sessions.

BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP
The Book Discussion Group meets the third Thursday each month at the Library at 7:30pm and is open to all. Copies of the book are available at the Circulation Desk.

The February selection, Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, will be discussed on Thursday evening, February 16th.

From Publishers Weekly
From the 1936 Olympics to WWII Japan's most brutal POW camps, Hillenbrand's heart-wrenching new book is thousands of miles and a world away from the racing circuit of her bestselling Seabiscuit. But it's just as much a page-turner, and its hero, Louie Zamperini, is just as loveable...he's a wit, a prankster, and a reformed juvenile delinquent who put his thieving skills to good use in the POW camps... She restores to our collective memory this tale of heroism, cruelty, life, death, joy, suffering, remorselessness, and redemption.

WILL YOU LEND A HAND?
"With one of the smallest paid staffs of any library in Delaware County, Helen Kate needs the support of volunteers. If you're able to give two to three hours every-other week, please give the Library a call, 610-566-9331.

The weather was fine and fun was had by all at Helen Kate's 50th annual May Fair. Take a look at some photos on the Library's Facebook page.

A lively crowd assembled at The Old Mill in Rose Valley in February for the ninth annual "I Love Helen Kate" party. It was a blustery evening, but a toasty fire warmed the crowd as they enjoyed hors d'oeuvres and browsed the items up for bid at the auction. It was a delightful party and a successful fundraiser. The committee, Donna Ferruzzi, Sara Hassell, Lee Kernen, Kelly Pennoni, and Beth Rowan are grateful to our sponsors, donors, and partygoers for making the evening possible.
